All about The Wiz... and his Biz

William Lorentz, Owner & Head Wizard

William "Wiz" Lorentz

William Lorentz has worked in the advertising industry for his entire adult life. His first art job came in high school when his art teacher recommended him to the people at the local hockey arena who needed someone to paint sponsors' logos on Plexiglas lightbox faces. He pursued a degree in graphic design and parlayed that into a 25+ year career in commercial graphics that culminated in creating Wiz Graphics.  In 2024 he accepted a position at Synk/Franz Graphics where he will work on a variety of ambitous projects.

He developed his own commercial art approach he calls 'ojective-based design' in which a given project's copy, imagery, colors, layout, and message revolve around accomplishing a central goal. If a piece has multiple goals, the goals are tiered and weighted accordingly. This design approach took off like wildfire because, well, it just works. His customers have come to appreciate the efficiency of his designs and the seemingly effortless way he arrives at it.  William is great at writing copy, communicating ideas visually, and understanding the art of subtext in advertising.

Today, his work can be seen in stadiums, at the Mall of America, convention centers, trade shows, businesses, and countless vehicles.  William works for Synk/Franz Graphics and still does some freelance work on the side for projects he finds particularly fun- usually wrapping personal vehicles.

The creativity doesn't stop there-  William is a lifelong musician as well!  He writes, sings, programs beats, plays bass & piano, and is currently learning to play the 6-string guitar.  He has recorded a few full-length albums and EPs, and has performed on stage at over 100 live shows.
